River to Bay has today announced a new fast boat service direct from Redcliffe jetty to Moreton Island, that will bring Moreton Island less than 30 minutes from the Redcliffe Jetty.
The 12-meter vessel, Bottlenose, carries up to 30 passengers and will be run by River to Bay. who already run a service from Sandstone Point. The trial service will start running 5 times a week during the Easter School holiday period, departing Redcliffe Jetty at 9:15 am and arriving on Moreton Island at 9:45 am. It will be the fastest regular service ever to connect to the island. Passengers arrive back at Redcliffe at 3:45 pm.
River to Bay co-founder John Sharpe said: “The new service marks an exciting new dimension to the existing service from Sandstone Point. Moreton Island is clearly visible from Redcliffe so it’s exciting to be able to connect locals and visitors alike to enjoy the beach, resort, snorkelling and other activities. All in 30 minutes! Departing from Redcliffe’s accommodation centre, we are confident this service will convince visitors to spend an extra day in the region.”
The cruise lands at Tangalooma Resort and the price includes lunch at the resort, and a day pass to pools, restaurants, bars, tours, shops and Resort facilities. Optional tours to the massive desert dunes, iconic snorkelling at the wrecks and marine wildlife discovery are available.
The snorkelling option is especially popular. This family-friendly tour includes fish-feeding and snorkelling in the home of the turtles, dolphins, and Wobbegong who share the coral with over 200 kinds of fish. With crystal clear water close to shore and abundant wildlife, Tangalooma Wrecks is one of the best snorkelling spots in Australia just 30 minutes from Redcliffe Jetty.
