    Wow, what an incredible Brisbane Experience. Last night my two best friends and I embarked on a Brisbane River Brewery Cruise and experienced the best craft and craft breweries Brisbane has to offer.

    The evening kicked off at Northshore Harbour where we met our fellow sailors, friendly skippers- Tim and Brad, and boarded the very impressive, high speed vessel. As we jumped on board we were welcomed with open arms and crisp, cool beers- the perfect start to an awesome night.  

    With the wind in our hair, water beneath our feet and Brisbane at our fingertips we set off on our night of fun and adventure.

    Our first port of call was the newly established Brew Dog. Located right along the river this brewery was the perfect place to kick off the night. As we entered the industrial style brewery, we were nothing but amazed. The newly refurbished warehouse was decked out with fairy lights, greenery and a huge (very inviting) bar. With over 28 specialty beers and craft brews on tap, plus a comprehensive range of wines, ciders, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages we were spoilt for choice.

    After much deliberation we decided on the famous Punk IPA- one of Brew Dog’s home brewed specialties and headed out to the bustling patio. The atmosphere was fantastic. Strewn with fairy lights and teeming with friends, families and pets, the outdoor alfresco style area really was the place to be. Music, chatter and laughter filled the air and as the sun set over the horizon the sky was strewn with vibrant colours.

    Brew Dog’s food menu was almost as impressive as their beverage menu. Loaded with flavour filled meals such as fries, burgers, pizza and wings, and an extensive range of vegan and vegetarian options, Brew Dog catered for all. We decided on pizza, fries and the staff recommended cauliflower buffalo wings. These were incredible and I would highly recommend to all.

    After trying a selection of beers, beverages, and food, our time was up, and we headed back to the boat. This next boat ride was a bit longer and as Brad cranked up the tunes and the speed, we were able to fully experience the excitement of speed boating.

    Our next port of call was Black Hops. Just a short walk from the river, and tucked away in East Brisbane, Black Hops proved to be one of Brisbane’s best kept secrets. With over 16 beers to choose from including Black Hop’s home brewed craft beers and seasonal flavours, the hot ticket item was the Black Hops tasting paddle. For just $12 we could sample 4 unique local beers and experience a range of exotic flavours.

    With guidance from the highly knowledgeable staff we settled on our beers of choice- Pale Ale, Super Hornet, Season Ale and the monthly special ABC Bomb, and headed on up to the mezzanine. This awesome vantage point gave us a great birds-eye view of the brewery and brewing process and the fun, laid-back atmosphere gave us a great opportunity to get to know our fellow brewery tour goers better.

    After many chats, laughs and of course beers we were off again and eager to get to our third brewery of the night- Sea Legs. Zooming along the water we were excited for our next debark. In true sailor style we landed right up on the Kangaroo Point beach, disembarking onto the cool sand. Just around the corner was Sea Legs. Neatly tucked beneath the iconic Story Bridge and laying on the cusp of Fortitude Valley, Sea Legs was the perfect location for our final brewery. As we entered we were welcomed with an air of fun and excitement and of course beer! The cool, laid-back atmosphere was great to kick back, relax and enjoy some of Brisbane’s best locally brewed beers. 

    After checking out the mouthwatering food menu, my friends and I agreed that we would have to return another night to experience the alluring food menu. With burgers, woodfired pizza and their locally renowned cheeseburger spring rolls on the menu, Sea Legs is the perfect location for some after work drinks, dinner with the friends or a weekend family affair!

    With the option to stay at Sea Legs many of our fellow sailors opted to stay in the city and continue their night across the bridge at Felons Brewing Co. After we said our farewells- and grabbed some take away Sea Legs beers, the few of us retuning to Northshore headed back to the boat for one last high-speed voyage. This last leg was so much fun! Speeding along the Brisbane River under the twinkling night sky was truly a remarkable experience. With the music cranking, wind streaming through our hair we were invincible. After a truly breathtaking experience back to Northshore we all agreed we could stay on that boat many many more hours!

    This Brisbane River Brewery Tour was one of the best Brisbane activities I have ever experienced, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is a great experience for locals looking for a fun filled night out or for tourists looking to experience Brisbane’s best nightlife.
