What to Expect
Boarding at the Sandstone Point Hotel’s jetty, Spinnaker Sound Marina, Bongaree Jetty, and Redcliffe Jetty, River to Bay’s boats will take you to Tangalooma Island Resort on Queensland’s beautiful Moreton Island in comfort. Our fast boats will whisk you away to the golden beach of Moreton Island within 45 minutes. Our boats will beach land at Tangalooma, and depending on tides, you may get wet up to your waist – but that’s half the fun! Plus, enjoy a resort access day pass to pools, restaurants, bars, tours, shops and facilities at Tangalooma Island Resort. With heaps of tours and activities on offer, Tangalooma is the jewel of Moreton Island.

We will depart in any weather that is deemed safe for the boat and our guests, and will advise guests if a tour is not running at least 48 hours prior to departure. Please note that whilst the weather may not be optimal on the mainland it is almost always sunny on Moreton.

  • Round-trip cruise: Arriving at Tangalooma Island at approximately 9:30 am and departing at 3:00 pm

*Passengers should arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time.

WHERE DO I MEET MY BOAT?

  • Our Tangalooma Day Cruise tour departs from Spinnaker Sound Marina, Sandstone Point Hotel Jetty, Bongaree Jetty and Redcliffe Jetty. You may choose one at the checkout
  • This is a return trip and guests will finish where they started
  • Unfortunately, we cannot drop you one day and pick you up another

IS THE TOUR SUITABLE FOR KIDS?

  • Child rate applies to passengers from 6 to 14 years old inclusive
  • Not suitable for people with back or heart conditions, or pregnant women

ARE FOOD AND DRINK PROVIDED?

  • The Tangalooma Day Cruise price includes a $20 voucher for adults and a $15 voucher for children to spend at any food outlet at the Resort.
  • We do not allow BYO

WILL I GET SEASICK?

  • Our crossing to Moreton Island can become rough and we advise anyone that suffers from seasickness to take their medication prior to travel.
  • If you do begin to feel unwell please advise the crew so they can move you to a more comfortable seat or provide sick bags.

ARE THERE ANY MEDICAL OR HEALTH RESTRICTIONS?

  • Given the changing conditions on the bay and our high speed boats, the trip can become quite exciting. While the seats are safe and comfortable, the motion could aggravate an existing back condition.
  • Similarly, some activities are strenuous and not suitable to be undertaken by people with heart conditions.
  • We reserve the right to refuse travel in the interests of your own health and safety.

WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE?

  • In order to keep to our schedule, we ask that you are at the pontoon waiting for us at least 15 minutes before the scheduled pick-up time. If we arrive early, we’ll start boarding immediately.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

  • We recommend bringing a change of clothes, swimming attire, a jumper/jacket, towel, hat, water bottle, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

WILL I GET WET ON THE BOAT?

  • Our boats cruise at 25-30 knots, and sea spray often occurs and adds to the experience! The boats are equipped with clear roll-downs which will be utilized where necessary.

WHAT CAN I DO AT TANGALOOMA RESORT?

  • The tour includes full access to the resort where you can use all their amenities including pools, restaurants, and bathrooms. For day activities you can book tours and hire equipment with Tangatours however, we recommend pre-booking these when you book your Tangalooma Day Cruise

ARE THERE TOILET FACILITIES ON THE BOATS?

  • Yes, our boats are equipped with a full private toilet. We also stop at some locations that have larger facilities. Please let the crew know if you need to go while we are underway.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE EVENT OF RAIN?

  • River to Bay seeks to run all its tours as planned. Our Boats are fully contained and we will do our best to ensure that passengers do not get wet whilst on the boat.
  • Our bay tours will only be canceled in the event of strong winds and large swells that are deemed unsafe. If a tour is canceled or you decide you would not like to travel that day, we can reschedule you or provide a gift voucher for use at a later date.

WHAT HAPPENS IF WE CANCEL?

  • In the event of a canceled tour, we will do our best to reschedule you to a more suitable date. If there is no tour immediately available, we will supply a gift voucher that is valid for 3 years.

  • Any included activity times to be confirmed on arrival at the resort. No refunds will be given for missed or unused activities. Tours, cruises and activities are weather dependant and subject to availability
  • Some of our activities and tours are physically demanding, and may pose a health or safety risk. For your safety, you must disclose before booking if you are suffering from any injury, medical condition (such as pregnancy, epilepsy, asthma or cardiovascular conditions), disability, disease or illness which may be aggravated by participation in, or may interfere with your ability to safely participate in our products. If you are unsure, or have any further questions, you should contact us before booking
  • Lunch includes $20 voucher per adult and $15 voucher per child valid at any open food outlet at the Resort.
  • Whale Watching guests receive a prepacked lunch onboard instead of voucher (dietary requirements must be specified at least 24hours before travel). Whale Watching Cruise departs from Tangalooma Jetty at 12:00pm and returns at approx 3pm. Whale watch cruise is weather dependent.
  • Desert Safari Tour: This tour is weather dependant as the sand tobogganing cannot operate in wet weather conditions. In the event of wet weather, this tour will operate as a sightseeing tour. Should a tour be cancelled by the resort, guests are entitled to a 100% refund. Tour times can be altered at short notice. Waiver forms must be signed prior to participating in this tour.
  • Guest use of Drones or Remotely Piloted Aircraft at Tangalooma Island Resort, on Resort transportation vehicles & vessels, or on tours operated by the resort is restricted by the conditions of the resort Drone Policy; as well as other statutory laws governing use of such aircraft in the vicinity of the resort, adjacent national/marine parks, and generally on Moreton Island.
  • Commercial Photography: Any commercial, corporate, or media filming/photography within the Tangalooma Island Resort precinct, upon one of the tours operated by the resort (or its concessionaires) into adjoin national/marine parks is governed by the resort’s Commercial, Corporate & Media Film Policy in which a permit must be issued by resort management prior to filming.
  • Tangalooma Island Resort Health Declaration: before departing to Tangalooma a COVID-19 Health Declaration will need to be completed before you can check-in. This is a legal document that all Resort guests need to complete before arrival at the wharf. Guests will also be required to abide by the Resorts COVID Safe policy which can be accessed at https://www.tangalooma.com/covidsafe. At its full discretion, the Resort can deny access to any person, and will be actively prohibiting access to any guest that is in Breach of the Resorts Covid policy.
  • We recommend that all travellers obtain travel insurance against cancellation or amendment fees, theft, loss, delays, or damage of personal luggage and effects as well as providing sufficient medical cover and injury.
